Dates for your calendar

Thursday’s: English café, 16.00-18.00 at Scandic Hotel, Allégatan 3 – Take part in the English café to meet new people and have fun while practicing your English with students from around the world. The café is open for students, staff, and whoever else wants to join.

November 29: Ice skating, 10.00-14.00 - Students are invited for warm drinks and snacks to the Student Corps in the basement using the entrance on Järnvägsgatan. Students will leave at 11.00 for the ice rink for skating. The cost is 50 SEK to rent skates for the entire day.

December 2: Swedish movie night and Glögg evening, 18.00-21.00 in the Student Union – International students are invited to take the Student Union where the International Student Committee will offer typical Swedish drinks and snacks such as warm glögg (mulled wine) and pepparkakor (gingerbread cookies). This will be followed up with a Swedish film. Registration is necessary no later than Dec 1st at 12.00 with Ewa in the Student Corps building.

December 2: Focus China exhibition, 12.00 outside the library – An exhibition showing modern art from China.

December 9: Training for new International Student Committee members, 17.00 in Rabalder at the Student Union. Contact su@sib.hb.se for details.

December 12: Saint Lucia Celebration at UB – The Swedish holiday of Saint Lucia is celebrated on this day. St. Lucia buns and gingerbread cookies are eaten on this day while observing Lucia processions. International students are invited to celebrate by rector, Lena Nordholm between 7.30-8.30 am in the green cafeteria. Registration is necessary no later than Dec 4th at 15.00 with Ewa in the Student Corps building.

December 24: Christmas Eve – Swedes celebrate the majority of Christmas celebrations on Christmas Eve. Families traditionally get together to eat a large feast and presents are opened in the evening.

January 16-17: Introduction for all new exchange students – Introduction begins on January 16th at 10.00 in room C203.
