ID cards to be offered by the Tax Office

Starting in June 2009 the Tax Office (Skatteverket) will be offering an ID card for immigrants with a Swedish personal identity number.

This will mark the end of a headache revolving around ID cards since the Svenska Kassaservice stopped issuing ID cards along with many banks. The issue was made more complicated when many authorities demanded that a direct relative verified the applications identification, which is impossible for many immigrants.
